NoR Apparel is a Canadian brand of apparel and accessories that fuses traditional African prints with everyday style. NoR aims to inspire a community of trendsetters to make a statement with bold and unique designs!
NoR was founded in February 2015 by Oriena Mensah and Michelle Osei-Bonsu, two African-Canadian students at Western University. Their goal was to support local artisans in Ghana who make a living producing beautiful crafts and products. They also wanted to share the beauty of the country’s textiles and fabrics with the rest of the world. As a result, the vast majority of NoR’s products are handmade by these Ghanaian artisans.
NoR is an abbreviation of "Notre Racine" which is French for "Our Root". Our name reflects the belief that embracing and sharing the beauty of one's culture is key to bringing together global communities.
The beauty of Africa, is that its culture, music, textiles and history can be appreciated by all. That's why the majority of our products are imported from Ghana, and handmade with quality african materials. Each item is selected based not only on its aesthetic appeal, but on the unique story it tells with colours, pattern and design.
